Blue Skies Consortium logo Local families alongside young and vulnerable people in housing need will be helped thanks to a successful grant of more than £36m, which has been awarded to a group of housing associations.

Peterborough-based Axiom Housing Association is one of the 13 organisations within the Blue Skies Consortium, which has received the award of £36,733,500 to deliver 1,133 new homes across the East and East Midlands regions.

The grant is part of the Homes and Communities Agency’s Shared Ownership, Affordable Homes Programme to deliver the mix of shared ownership, rent to buy and supported housing homes over the next five years.

Axiom’s share of the funding will help to build 60 homes across Peterborough and Cambridgeshire and a further 25 in Lincolnshire. The funding allocation will be split over 2018/19 and 2020/21.

The Blue Skies Consortium led by Longhurst Group, has yet again been named as one of the top 10 developers to receive a share of the £1.28 billion funding pot owing to its consistent performance over the past 11 years.

Alan Lewin, Chief Executive of Axiom, said: “We’re are delighted to have received this funding as part of the consortium and we look forward to working with our partners at Longhurst Group to deliver yet more affordable housing across Peterborough, Cambridgeshire and Lincolnshire.”

Ian Jackson, Executive Director of Portfolio Investment for Longhurst Group, added: “This is an excellent result and demonstrates our long-term commitment to providing affordable homes where they are most needed.

“The Consortium has worked well together for a number of years to develop homes, creating partnership opportunities and successfully overseeing the project management of a number of sites from feasibility assessment through to completion.”
